COVID-19 in Aged Care: Protecting Our Staff and Consumer
We have put strong COVID-19 safety rules in place to stop the virus from spreading among staff and consumers. We look for risks in our services and fix them to stop COVID-19 from spreading.
We’re confident our consumers can continue to safely use our services during these challenging times. Our trained and equipped frontline staff follow all COVID-19 safety rules of doing what’s needed to:
- Prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including COVID-19, within the community,
- Make sure compliance with government health regulations and social distancing directives, and
- Amplify existing infection Stop the virus and control procedures and how they apply to COVID-19.

At an organisational level, we’ve also put processes in place to:
- We quickly identify anyone who may have been exposed to COVID-19 while using our services.
- We inform our team, clients, and health authorities right away., as well as government health authorities, of any COVID-19 related issues, including confirmed cases.
- Support affected employees and consumers who have been confirmed as having COVID-19 as much as possible.
Day-to-day, we continue to offer a range of important hands-on and contactless support services, supported by robust measures to ensure safety, including:
- We pre-screen every consumer before providing services to identify any risks.
- We make sure compliance with government health regulations and social distancing directives.

COVID-19 in aged care: What if I have symptoms?
If you think you have symptoms, phone the Australian Government’s Corona virus Health Information Line on 1800 020 080 or your GP who will be able to provide you with further advice. Please also call FLC to let them know if you are due to receive any face-to-face services.
Primary health providers, GPs, community health workers and emergency departments in Australia have been provided with updated advice and guidance on how to diagnose and manage this condition.
